MASSON COMMITS TO LINCOLN TRAIL COLLEGE

Class of 2017 Evans High School 6'4 Small Forward Ickson Masson announced his verbal commitment to Lincoln Trail College via twitter on Tuesday night. After having a great senior year that saw Masson average 15.1 points per game, 7.1 rebounds per game and 2 steals per game it comes as no surprise that he will be continuing his career at such a high level. However this wasn't Masson's first go around in the recruiting process. He was previously committed to Webber International University before he ultimately made the decision to decommit and reopen his recruitment. Lincoln Trail was very lucky that he made this decision because it allowed them to get an extremely talented athlete in Masson. He shows great ability on the court and can get it done in many different ways which is going to make him a very hard player to guard at the college level. He excels in getting to the basket, his rebounding, his midrange game and shows a great amount of toughness on the floor. When it came to picking Lincoln Trail, Masson had a plethora of options to choose from but he said, "I committed where I did because the coaching staff treat me like real family and I've been praying to God to guide me." He is very excited for the opportunity and said, "I look forward to gaining more experience and becoming the best I can be." Then he went on to say that this year he wants to expand his game and be one of the best players in his conference. Being that Lincoln Trail competes at the NJCAA Division I level, after two years we could very well see Masson committed and signed to a notable NCAA Division I program. However Masson said, "Honestly my goal is to do one year in JUCO and then sign to a D1 school." With the hard work ethic that Masson has combined with his talent this is something that we could very well see happening. Masson has had to work for anything that he has ever gotten and has never been handed anything in his life. He's often been overlooked by many coaches and he said, "Coaches I played for believed I wasn't good enough so they started to play me less. So I just add that as fuel to my fire." He added on that he won't be satisfied until his mom is in her favorite car. Lincoln Trail is located in Robinson, Illinois and is a part of the Great Rivers Athletic Conference.
