NEILAN COMMITS TO STETSON UNIVERSITY

Class of 2018 Timber Creek High School Pitcher Bret Neilan has made his verbal commitment to play NCAA Division I Baseball at Stetson University in DeLand, Florida. Neilan made a huge name for himself this season and became very well known throughout the state of Florida and looking at his stat line you would know why. Neilan pitched 99.2 innings and had a 0.84 ERA and a 0.70 WHIP alongside a perfect 15-0 record. He also got it done with the bat this season with a .303 Batting Average, 3 Home Runs and 22 RBI all in 76 plate appearances. Although he can get it done with the bat when Neilan was asked if he would play somewhere else then pitcher in college, he responded, "I will only be pitching because that is the main thing I want to focus on through out my college experience even though I have a little pop with the bat I would choose not to." Neilan is something special and he continued to prove it game in and game out as he led Timber Creek all the way to the state title game where they finished their season with a state championship and ranked #7 in the state according to our final Top 25 rankings. This success didn't stop at the High School level, Neilan has won the 2016 16U Perfect Game World Series Championship and the 2016 Perfect Game WWBA Florida Qualifier Championship in travel ball with the Central Florida Gators. Additionally, last year the Central Florida Gators finished the 2016 travel ball season ranked #1 in the nation. When asked why he made the decision to commit to Stetson, Neilan replied, "The reason I chose Stetson was that it was close to home and it is a great school as in academically and sports." Stetson competes in the Atlantic Sun and finished their 2017 season with a 27-29 record.
